Interviews
The goal was to have a team of 3-5 people by the following monday (3 days). Luckily I set up appointments 2 weeks in advance to help me use up my time more efficiently. That left me with a total of 18 interviews in 2 days. I needed to find 2 Programmers, 2 Content Writers and 1 Designer.
I didnt have an office yet, so I got the next best thing. I went to the nicest 5 star hotel in the City (Shangrila Hotel), and I crashed the lobby for about 5-6 hoursĀ each day. They couldnt really say anything, just as long as I ordered my tea.

Interviews are long and boring, especially when u have them back to back for around 6 hrs. I have to admit, I have a pretty bad track record with my hires. I tend to hire either the lazy ones, the dumb ones, or the ones that will scheme behind your back. So I am not going to give any hiring advice this time. My brother does a much better job with the people he picks, so he usually does the hiring. I like to sit back, eat some pie, and throw in a “so what are you greatest strengths and weaknesses,” every now and then.

wow erik is all dressed up….
The weaknesses question is often a setup for a canned response. I like to ask about their challenges and how they worked through the challenges. It seems to give some insight on their personality and relations with other people.
erik took off his shoes!
