Home Cooked Meal

After seeing how big and cheap the tiger prawns are over here, I couldnt help but resist the urger to cook myself a home cooked meal. Ive always wanted to experiment with various types of seafood, but with the prices nowadays, theres usually very little room for error.

(The shrimp on the right is your average tiger prawn in the Philippines, the shrimp on the left represents your average shrimp from back home. Over here we dont even waste our time peeling the ones on the left.)

Over here in the Philippines, seafood is really cheap and fresh . For my first concoction, I decided that I wanted to use a few of the local ingredients. Ingredients such as Philippine basil, lemon grass, leeks and the local baby onions. I made a Shrimp dish with a tomato based, herbed sauce. I added a little minced chili peppers simmered in fresh shrimp broth to give it that extra kick. I also complimented the entree with a quick cucumber-diced tomato salad and some brown rice (trying to eat healthy). I ended up pairing the dish with an ice cold San Miguel Light.
