$25,000 in 4 Months, My Real Life Case Study
Sold the shop, created the 6 steps to success, so now what?
After analyzing all the good ideas, it’s finally time to choose one. Like I said in my earlier post, a lot of people come up with great new ideas all the time, they just never make it happen. I didn’t want to be one of those shoulda coulda’s, so I decided to go for it. I went with my Idea #3 Setting up a Web Call Center in the Philippines.
First of all, let me remind you that my decision to start a call center in the Philippines spun off my original intention, idea #2 to Import/Export Green Manufacturing Products from China. This call center is merely a stepping stone to help setup and develop a marketing team for the ultimate project. However, this new venture will be a for-profit business and I do plan to not only expand my horizons thru new experiences, but to gain financially as well.
Philippines, China or India? How to Choose?
These three countries are usually the top choices for outsourcing. While doing my research on setting up a call center, I thought about who my target market was and what kind of staff best suited my newest business venture. I decided not to go with China, for three obvious reasons. So that left me with a decision between the Philippines and India:
China
- I couldn’t get a long term, multi entry visa
- Their strength lies in manufacturing
- Too fobby. English is not one of their strong points, enough said.
Philippines
- Best at English and grammar
- Naturally trained to think creatively through their culture
- Best Accent
- Somewhat lazy (not as lazy as Americans though)
- Very Expensive, average rate is about double what the typical Indian person makes.
India
- Very Very Hard Working
- Somewhat Robotic (point A to point B specialists)
- Great technical skills
- Cheap Labor
- Accent can be hard to understand
To me, this choice was pretty obvious. Try calling the Party Poker customer support, located in India, about why your account got banned and you’ll end up hanging up, even more confused about what Francis Johnson, your customer service representative was trying to say. How can you have a successful company, without the proper communication? The answer was pretty clear; I’m going to the Philippines.
I will be creating a team of programmers, designers, writers and consultants to help further my knowledge about internet marketing. Throughout the process, I will be generating income through developing dynamic websites, web consulting and affiliate marketing with companies such as google (adsense), amazon and kontera. In order to prepare me the most for my future goals, I will be mainly focusing on affiliate marketing. After planning my budget, my goal is to at least break even and make $25,000 in 4 months, my allocated time for this case study. After 4 months, I will reassess the situation and decide which direction to pursue next.
There are millions of more computer savvy people out there than you, how do you plan to compete?
The internet is kind of like real estate. There are always new areas that are developing, and the current property (domain) value is always appreciating over time. As a new player in the internet market, I feel that my advantage would be through my staff and man power. A typical person usually has to come up with an idea, design the webpage, do the programming, research and write the content, and then market the website. I will have a consultant to teach me about the new technologies and concepts of the internet industry, and a team to do the rest. By not having to learn how to build and design websites, write the content, and market the page, I get to focus on coming up with new ideas, which is what I usually do best
I don’t really know enough about this industry to see what lies ahead, but I am fully confident that profitable or not, things will turn out okay. God places us in these situations for a reason, to help us grow and gain from these experiences. We just need to trust that he has our back and go along for the ride. This is what ill be doing for the next couple of months. If you guys need a website made, holla at yo boy.
Any of you guys are interested in learning more about what I am doing in detail? Shoot me an email or a comment… I’ll try to respond with more examples and my current updates.
