Random Thoughts…
Just to reiterate whats going on, the plan behind coming out here to the Philippines was to fulfil 3 needs.
- Start Green Media Concepts - a web consulting and development company
- Generate long term residual income through affiliate marketing
- Build Website equity for future internet marketing ventures.
Throughout the rest of the weeks, ill try to talk about each one of these sectors directly.
On another note, I just came back from a 10 day vacation. I barely got any work done throughout this process and the thought of having to write an insightful blog made me sick to my stomach. Writing is not really one of my strong points and im typically a pretty lazy guy. So, ive decided to no longer write any long, propper grammar, well thought out posts. I will now resort to a more freestyle, gchat/aim type of style and try to answer more of your questions. I will try to post more frequently.
Aight Bluh..
Oh, btw… i might be in HK in mid October, let me know if you might be in town on those days.
Happy Bday Cook!
Home Cooked Meal
After seeing how big and cheap the tiger prawns are over here, I couldnt help but resist the urger to cook myself a home cooked meal. Ive always wanted to experiment with various types of seafood, but with the prices nowadays, theres usually very little room for error.
(The shrimp on the right is your average tiger prawn in the Philippines, the shrimp on the left represents your average shrimp from back home. Over here we dont even waste our time peeling the ones on the left.)
Over here in the Philippines, seafood is really cheap and fresh . For my first concoction, I decided that I wanted to use a few of the local ingredients. Ingredients such as Philippine basil, lemon grass, leeks and the local baby onions. I made a Shrimp dish with a tomato based, herbed sauce. I added a little minced chili peppers simmered in fresh shrimp broth to give it that extra kick. I also complimented the entree with a quick cucumber-diced tomato salad and some brown rice (trying to eat healthy). I ended up pairing the dish with an ice cold San Miguel Light.
Interviews
The goal was to have a team of 3-5 people by the following monday (3 days). Luckily I set up appointments 2 weeks in advance to help me use up my time more efficiently. That left me with a total of 18 interviews in 2 days. I needed to find 2 Programmers, 2 Content Writers and 1 Designer.
I didnt have an office yet, so I got the next best thing. I went to the nicest 5 star hotel in the City (Shangrila Hotel), and I crashed the lobby for about 5-6 hoursĀ each day. They couldnt really say anything, just as long as I ordered my tea.

Interviews are long and boring, especially when u have them back to back for around 6 hrs. I have to admit, I have a pretty bad track record with my hires. I tend to hire either the lazy ones, the dumb ones, or the ones that will scheme behind your back. So I am not going to give any hiring advice this time. My brother does a much better job with the people he picks, so he usually does the hiring. I like to sit back, eat some pie, and throw in a “so what are you greatest strengths and weaknesses,” every now and then.
